Astronomers may have discovered the first aktolun outside the Solar system

Signal that was able to determine using the space telescope "Kepler" very probably could belong to the first assalone, scientists discovered outside of our Solar system. It was received by the David Kipping and his colleagues from Columbia University. However, opinions about whether the signal belongs to the satellite exoplanet, remain divided.

"It (the signal — approx. ed) is consistent with signals that you can expect from a satellite of the planet, but it could also belong to other cosmic object" — shared Kipping in an interview with New Scientist.

Recall that the space telescope "Kepler" searches for cosmic objects by observing the change in the brightness of stars, which may decrease or increase when crossing the path of their light. Scientists observed dips in luminosity, indicating the presence of the satellite from one of the planets of the star system Kepler-1625. It clearly to see, of course, is not possible, however, data analysis shows that the probability to see the same data in the absence of the satellite would be only 1 in 16 000.

If it turns out that this object is indeed absoloni, then you can will likewise speak about the space anomaly, since, according to scientists, the size of this object is approximately equal to the size of our Neptune, and thus it revolves around exoplanets the size of Jupiter.

Some scientists are optimistic about this discovery.

"If our Solar system has hundreds of satellites, it would be strange if in other systems, they do not have" — said David Waltham from the University of London.

If the discovery is confirmed, then we have not only the first aktolun, but pretty big azoluna. Whether it is small, it is likely the distortion, resulting in stellar luminosity would be so small that we, most likely, they would not have noticed. By the way, talking about the star, located about 4000 light years from us.

"the Discovery of the first aktywny can not but rejoice, because these objects in the theory can be even more numerous than themselves earth-like planets", — notes article in the journal Origins of Life and Evolution of the Biosphere, Helmut Lammer.

Increased interest in this opening can be attributed to two reasons. The first is that "the majority of confirmed exoplanets and candidates located in the habitable zones of stars are either super-earths, gas giants". The vast majority eventually recognized uninhabitable due to its size. The fact that for the detection of extrasolar planets of its mass and size, as indicated by Kepping must be at least twice that of Mars due to the imperfections and limitations of our technology observations. As a result, the majority of detected planets in fact have either a strong gas and toxic atmosphere, or too much gravity, little suitable for at least the life we know. The second reason is that ecolony, most likely, as our Moon have a synchronous rotation with their planets, that is, the length of a day on them may be much shorter than their light-years, which makes them more Earth-like and therefore more suitable for life.

More interesting, this discovery does what if ecolony this size is confirmed, it will greatly expand our search horizon. We will start searching for aktolun similar size, significantly increasing the chances of discovery of an inhabited world. To confirm you must wait for the space telescope "Hubble" will give you the opportunity to look at this implied aktywno.
