Africa joined in the space race by launching its first satellite

later most of the other continents joined in the international space race. The first African satellite to be launched into orbit, became a unit GhanaSat-1, created by a team of engineers from the University of all Nations, located in the city of Koforidua of Ghana state. The project took the scientists about two years, and the cost was $ 50, 000. In June the satellite was delivered to the international space center of NASA, into orbit in July, it brought the rocket company SpaceX.

"our satellite has two main objectives. First, using the built-in cameras, it will monitor the coast of Ghana. Second, we pursued educational goals. It is planned to use the obtained satellite data in the school educational plan" — shared with the press a University Professor of all Nations, Richard Damoi.

Put into orbit the satellite has already been received signal, and this means that the launch is successful. Of course, a tiny Ghanaian companion doesn't look so impressive against the backdrop of space achievements of other countries, but for African scientists even this small success has a huge national importance. Especially given the fact that scientists have not received from their state. After Ghana their satellites into orbit, most likely, lead space Agency South Africa, Nigeria, Kenya and Ethiopia. It is known that next year will be launched in Angola. Ghana will develop its second satellite is already supported by the government and will provide it with better quality cameras for tracking the orbit of illegal logging and minerals extraction.
