Successfully tested a vaccine against cancer

Not the first day, experts from around the world looking for a cure for cancer. And most recently, as reported by the journal Nature, a team of scientists from United States have successfully completed the clinical tests of individual vaccines for this disease, which annually claims the lives of thousands.

A Group of researchers from different parts of the U.S., namely from the Institute of cancer research Dana-Farber, Brigham after he was caught hospital and Harvard medical school, has completed clinical trials of a personalised vaccine against the tumor antigen of human melanoma. Melanoma is one of the most dangerous tumors of the human body with a very high degree of malignancy and a large number of deaths. One of the factors for melanoma are genetic mutations that disrupt the processes of cell division, causing abnormal growth. Melanoma susceptible only to immunotherapy, i.e. the introduction into the patient of monoclonal antibodies to cancer cells. But experts from the USA have gone further and created a personalized vaccine against tumor cells, which will help shape the immunity of a particular person against a particular tumor.

Each vaccine was developed individually for each study participant. During a series of clinical tests, scientists have sequenced the genome of the tumor of each patient revealed a unique set of mutations and created a personalized vaccine. The study involved 6 patients. After vaccination, four subjects for 25 months there was no recurrence and two participants in the experiment were observed complete regression of tumors and increase the number specific to antigens of the tumor T cells.
