Can the brain solve problems during sleep?

Human brain processes information even while you sleep.

Probably everyone at least once in my life heard of that in my sleep listening to an audiobook, you can remember the information contained therein. Especially like the idea to students that hope to learn a difficult poem lying on the couch. But in fact, this method of storing information is only useful for Indian yogis and Buddhist monks, but most of the people in the dream is capable of a maximum of the decision facing them tasks. American scientists that this is indeed possible, but only with one important condition.

The Essence of the conditions is that for the solution of a task the person is required to know information to solve it. For example, to solve a mathematical problem, you need to keep in mind all of the numeric expression. So those people who want the night time to make discovery or to unravel the secret of the Universe, while it is not necessary to rejoice. But if the head of the person already have the source data, you can try to go to sleep and allow your brain to piece this information together. Perhaps, after waking up to find the answer to long tormented question will be much easier.

Another benefit of sleep

Most interesting is that the brain's ability to solve problems during sleep can be improved. So, anyway, say researchers from the northwestern University, located in the suburbs of Chicago. They took into account the fact that during sleep the human brain scrolls dialed for a day of memories and analyzes them again, viewed from a different angle. Then they decided to try to create an Association of a task with sound and see if the brain to find the answer, if during sleep will be played related to the task the sound.

Finding ways to improve brain work during sleep, the scientists studied 57 volunteers. In the afternoon each of the participants in the experiment tried to solve six puzzles, and when working on each task played a different sound. The puzzle was so difficult that the volunteers had to go home to rest and try to find the answer in the morning.

Man spends in sleep is a huge part of my life — it's how many problems can be solved!

So each of them took a device that was lost to the sounds of three of the six tasks in time . To the surprise of researchers and volunteers themselves, the following morning the puzzle was solved 55% better than the previous day. Moreover, the improvement was particularly noticeable in those tasks, the sounds which sounded during the sleep of the participants.

In General, now American scientists are more confident that the human brain can actually solve problems in my sleep. However, they would have to conduct additional experiment with a large number of participants and to consider other test conditions. After all, just think — maybe the day of the study volunteers could be simply tired, and in the morning cope with the task easier, because rested.
