Neptune — the furthest planet-the giant . However, this small moon of Neptune was able to surprise astronomers with their incredible qualities of this strange, from a scientific point of view, the celestial body.
How does the Triton?
As mentioned above, the largest moon of Neptune is Triton, which was discovered by English astronomer William Lassila just 17 days after the discovery of the Neptune. Despite the fact that the size of Triton is similar to the size of our moon, the mass of this distant companion is more than 90% of the total mass of all the other satellites of the dark blue giant. Other satellites of Neptune, among which stand out the Nereid and Proteus represent captured asteroids. When in 1989 the surroundings of the giant planet was visited by the first object created by human hands — humanity was first able to obtain information about distant world, most of which are relevant today.
Triton has a strange, retrograde orbit, which is manifested in the fact that this celestial body is in motion, which is opposite to the direction of straight movement. Such “arbitrariness” threatens the Triton that sooner or later the satellite of Neptune runs the risk of simply break apart, forming a ring, the analogue of which at present we can observe on Saturn.
In the meantime, newt did not explode, modern telescopes can observe it very interesting climatic and geological phenomena that make this small icy world is absolutely unique celestial body. So, one of the most striking features of Triton are its ice volcanoes, which form a truly fantastic trail around the planet of water and ammonia. It is known that in the Solar system only 4 planetary object can boast of active volcanism, which is manifested in one form or another — of Triton, and of course, Earth.

The unusual name appeared at the geological formation is no coincidence, because the structure of the terrain is really similar to the crust of this vegetable. It is believed that unique area appeared on the satellite because of a big flood of liquid lava, composed of water and ammonia, producing the so-called effect diaper.
