Russia for the first time in the history of the beginning of printing bodies in space Source:

On Board the International space station for the first time in history began , in which the bio-printer will be printed Minorcan. The results of the experiment will be released in early 2019. The experiment was carried out by laboratory 3D Bioprinting Solutions. On Wednesday, December 5, reported the news edition of "RIA Novosti" owning the laboratory of the company "Invitro".

Experimental bio-printer was sent to the ISS from Baikonur on December 3.

"Cosmonaut Oleg Kononenko, previously trained in working with the bio-printer, began the experiment of printing living tissue on 4 December at 17:00 GMT. In the experiment it is planned to cartilage tissue and organ construct of the thyroid gland of mouse", — quotes the message a press-services "Invitro" edition "RIA Novosti".

It Also reported that in the spring of 2019 to the ISS is planned to send the bio-printer, developed in the United States.

Sending of the first such device "On.The bus" experiment "Magnetic 3D bio-printer" was to be held on 11 October, but because of the accident of the carrier rocket that didn't happen. The developers have prepared another copy, which was sent from Baikonur to the ISS on 3 December.

Technology bioprinting organs can be used for the treatment of cancer, in particular, increasing the speed of selection of essential drugs. With the ability to print living tissue, scientists will be able to check the toxicity of certain protivoallergichesky drugs that can be used in the treatment. This will allow you to more effectively choose treatment, causing least harm to the patient and to achieve maximum impact on the tumor.

If we talk about more distant future, the technology of bioprinting organs may be essential in the colonization of other planets in the Solar system. With the help of such devices, the colonialists will be able, if necessary, to create organs for transplantation.
