The new method of storing data using light and salt crystals

"the Fluorescence of nanocrystals of salt can be a promising alternative to the traditional HDD and SSD, and Blu-Ray discs. During the experiments we managed to create an optical structure for storing data in nanocrystals of salt, which even cannot be seen with the naked eye. This allows for very high density recording."

Moreover, the new method is "layered", that is, 1 nanocrystal can store multiple bits of data, which, moreover, are writable. The technology enables the use of low power lasers, which makes it available for consumer electronics. Using "templates of behavior change laser," scientists were able to ensure that the laser beam can transmit, and read data, and nanocrystals of salt can be embedded in plastic, glass or any other material, giving them almost any shape, making such media in the future, very convenient.
