Unmanned fighter Boeing in 2020

Boeing's many promising projects, and one of them is a platform for building Autonomous fighter called Airpower Teaming System. It is already known that the first operational UAV based on it will be a Loyal Wingman. Being designed to support manned aircraft, he will be ready for its first flight in 2020. The project was developed by order of the Ministry of defence of Australia.

Besides the fact that he is able to accompany piloted vehicles, it can be used for reconnaissance and even attack. It is known that the autonomy provided by artificial intelligence, which can be programmed to perform all missions. Intelligent system will also be useful to save the distance between it and other aircraft. As there's no pilot, it can fly much longer — more than 3,700 kilometers.

The Boeing Representatives did not disclose how much it has cost to develop new products. However, they shared that the unmanned fighter is much cheaper than manned counterparts. The Corporation plans to produce a new kind of fighter only by order, and agrees to equip them with additional equipment required by the customer.

The Aircraft can take advantage of the large demand, as it will be sent on extremely dangerous missions without risking the lives of pilots. However, Boeing is not the only company who does this kind of project. for example, in 2015, Lockheed Martin began developing unmanned fighter based on the F-16 Fighting Falcon.
