Hydrogen fuel is one of the cleanest sources of energy. Get it is still quite problematic. The can help the invention of experts from Stanford University that has recently developed an "artificial lung". It will not help you to breathe, but it can create raw materials for the production of clean energy, the byproduct of which will be only plain water.

The Device got its name for a reason. The fact that he has a lot in common with our light.

"When air gets into the human lung, it passes through a thin membrane. This membrane removes oxygen from the air and sends it into the bloodstream. Other substances that are not needed at the moment, appear back. The unique anatomical structure of the body makes gas exchange very efficient." — the researchers explain.

"Light", created by scientists from Stanford, in fact, is a pouch created from a thick plastic film. Water-repellent tiny pores cover the outer part of the bag, while nanoparticles of gold and platinum lining its inner part. This is necessary in order to make the membrane selectively permeable. Further, by placing in the pouch of water and applied voltage, the device thanks to the above described elements, allows to produce clean energy. Moreover, if scientists did a flat membrane, the efficiency, according to them, would fall to 32%.

"the Geometric form is very important in this case. The shape of the bag minimizes the formation of bubbles that may form and reduce the efficiency of the process of energy generation." said one of the authors Yu Chui.

For now, scientists want to optimize your device to operate at higher temperatures. At the moment it does not work at temperatures above 100 degrees Celsius.
