Astronomers recorded the most powerful explosion on the surface , unlike anything they have ever seen. Despite the fact that the existence of such explosions experts expected even 15 years ago, watching one of them took place just now. The observations were conducted by astronomers from NASA's Solar dynamic Observatory (SDO) on the newest equipment. The researchers witnessed the eruption on the Sun's surface, in which the magnetic field of the star was broken and then connected again, which resulted in unprecedented magnetic explosion. Scientists watched the explosion in the outer layer of the atmosphere — the crown. The eruption occurred, the release of substances in the form of prominence — thick fountain of hot gas that rises and is retained on the surface of the star.
What is caused by the magnetic explosion?
As CNN News, the cause of the magnetic explosion was erupting. It should be noted that understanding this phenomenon could help scientists better understand the solar atmosphere and to predict . Researchers believe that the eruption was caused by a continuous stream of plasma or charged gas, which faces the magnetic fields and causes them to reunite. This phenomenon is called magnetic reconnection and is well known to specialists. However, earlier researchers have observed only spontaneous reconnection on the Sun, rather than forced.
