a New discovery completely changes the perception about the development of dinosaurs
The closest relatives of dinosaurs are considered to be modern birds and crocodiles. Among these feathered creatures and toothy reptiles there viviparous species, and they all lay eggs. Consequently, who lived millions of years ago dinosaurs were also built nests and hatched eggs — but that's what they were? Previously, scientists were convinced that dinosaur eggs were covered with a hard shell, just like living chickens and ostriches. However, during one of the scientific papers, the researchers found that the baby dinosaurs developed inside the soft bags. This discovery has changed scientists ' ideas about the development and life of ancient creatures.
The fact that eggs are ancient creatures were deprived of their hard shells, according to the fossilized remains of eggs of two species of dinosaurs.
About 75 million years ago in territory of modern Mongolia, lived the so-called protoceratops (Protoceratops) — plant-eating dinosaurs the size of a small lamb. In multiple studies, scientists have been able to find many places laying eggs of these creatures. But one of them attracted a lot of attention — in the nest were found the remains of 12 calves, and six of them are well preserved skeleton.
protoceratops were developed by "collars", who defended their neck out and attracted the attention of the opposite sex.
The Researchers conducted a chemical analysis of the fossilized eggs and found them to be the same substances that make up the inner layer of the eggs of modern birds and crocodiles. But no trace of minerals, which formed a hard shell, was found. Although, logically, the hard part is the eggs had to be preserved much better than the soft inner layer. There was an assumption that dinosaur eggs were soft and poorly protected.
Loyalty theory was further supported when researchers examined the remains of eggs of mussurov (Mussaurus). These six-meter dinosaurs were also plant-eaters, but lived about 227 million years ago and in a completely different place — on the territory of modern Argentina. Having studied the chemical composition of the remains, the researchers again found only traces of a soft inner shell. The presence of the solid shell was not even a hint.

But how to explain the fact that earlier researchers had found the remains of solid dinosaur eggs? Researchers believe that hardening of the shell occurred in the course of evolution. Initially the eggs were soft and poorly protected — it puts the population of dinosaurs in peril. Therefore, over millions of years, eggs of ancient creatures began to solidify and the shell provided protection from both mechanical damage and from sunlight.

Probably why the eggs of modern chickens and crocodiles have a hard shell. She is strong enough to protect developing young from external influence. But shell also fragile to developed creatures able to get out of them out and start a meaningful life.
It is a soft turtle eggs. Probably dinosaur eggs looked the same.
A new discovery has been told in the scientific journal Nature. It is worth noting that even evidence that ancient creatures were laying eggs without the hard shell, was found relatively recently. In 2011, on-site cold of Antarctica was found something like petrified potatoes. That this object during this time was the egg of the ancient mosasaurs (Mosasaurus), researchers realized only in 2018. These creatures lived under water and, as it turned out, too, laid a soft egg. Read more about the discovery by researchers can be read at the end of this article I must say that Yes — the eggs of some dinosaurs were indeed deprived of the shell.
